Seder's now on the screw everyone out of any kind of relief train. We know he's not in any hurry, he has economic freedom. And again, the issues he's bringing up i agree with for the most part, he's just being too absolute about it, and also acts like such a dick. He thinks he's clever but he's not, he's a new democrat, what he's doing is obvious. Their nonsense applies across the board to all negative nancys.
The idea, from this website anyway, is to reduce the bureaucracy, reduce the need for citizens to prove they're poor and be forced to jump through arbitrary hoops, to reduce the criminalization attached to this system and to reduce the police state as a result of many associated factors, eliminate involuntary homelessness and starvation, allow those in bad situations to leave them, eliminate the need for charity as a base for feeding our own citizens (which the constitution does not mention, therefor is not a viable option when the general welfare is considered by the state), to provide options, to help small businesses, there are more benefits than i can list here, and not dismantle the programs he's talking about. The most important benefit, in my opinion, is we all get control of our own economic activity back. If you check the platform universal healthcare is included as well as education.
My original idea was to divide the ubi into segments that direct it to specific parts of the economy using a type of credit card or what could be used as a national id card (with other uses), namely housing, food, necessity, utility and finally cash (just a slightly lesser amount than yang). Mainly because the infrastructure is already in place for this as a consequence of food stamps. Unemployment insurance can probably be reduced, not eliminated, and i likely wouldn't mess with social security at all as that's a separate system from the 'welfare state', not sure why yang is suggesting this. The minimum wage wouldn't be as big of an issue, if the private state isn't doing their job we can adjust it in the ubi. I'm not opposed to straight cash, we should try it, but i think directing a portion of it and using product codes would eliminate some of what others might call waste, or in other words making sure at least some of it is being used for its intended purpose. I wouldn't make the products for each category as limited either like food stamps is, for instance you can use your food portion for any food from anywhere or any food preparation related products, same for the rest, housing would be anything related your housing, payments, upkeep, furnishings, remodel, repair, etc. The system can be balanced no matter what these goofballs say. The whole thing needs to be tested no matter how you look at it. However you can get into it, once you're there you can adjust in any case.
But they don't say any of this, their idea is to keep you in poverty and under the state's thumb, let's all vote for more neoliberalism and let the elites spend all your money for you as you live in misery. The point is we can work this shit out, it isn't a reason not to do it. Be aware that this may be our only chance to try it, we may not get another. This is no big deal if you already have enough, you know, like seder and brooks. They're fucking centrists what do you expect? In their mind there's a section of the citizenry that are irrelevant, and even though we know these 3 facts:
1. we all consume.
2. wealth trickles up.
3. ownership and control of the economy are related to 1. and 2.
they want to favor the middle, because that's what the elites taught them. That's the special interest group they represent. I get the feeling they think they're still in debate club, and their goal is to win the debate and not set up society properly. Seder says one thing in one 'debate' and then contradicts himself in the next. He had one with jimmy dore where he said he has a big problem with what he's putting out, yet in another with tim black he says that what maddow is putting out, which is to an audience many times that of dore, doesn't seem like a big deal and doesn't see why it should affect him. Dudes just full of himself and full of shit.
These planks i'm talking about hopefully will be finished by sometime in 2020. Something else yang fails to mention, and i don't know why since he says he's good at math, is the 0 point related to ubi and taxes. At some point the amount of tax you pay will equal or exceed the benefit you're getting from the ubi. So if you were concerned about keeping taxes as low as possible you would simply not use your ubi at this point. This basically means that not everyone will be collecting a ubi but only for beneficial reasons, and obviously a broadened tax base will equal lower taxes all around, so the stimulus effect is also beneficial to you and the businesses that aren't being weighted down with related burdens society should already be taking care of through the government. It's hard to calculate because all of the factors would change when instituted, but i'll guess it's at like 100-200k.
One other thing he needs to stop saying asap is the 'no one wants to use the 4th place navigation app', because it isn't about what place anyone is in, it's about competition and the chance to do better than that #1 navigation app, offering something others don't, innovation, etc. Allowing the dominance and manipulation by these businesses to the detriment of all of this is stifling. If the 4th best app can attract enough consumers to make enough profit to continue to develop their app this is a good thing. Allowing giants with many advantages smaller businesses do not have to buy up sections of the internet and then close distribution and gear popular websites or apps to one of their specific products is what needs to stop. As of now if you're poor your security is ignored, the 2 main browsers have stopped updating their last generation software, which means you're either wealthy enough to update with all new shit or you become prey. Have you tried visiting youtube with 32-bit firefox lately?
